Tokyo-based photographer Tomasz Kuczyński explores a different side of Iran to that which usually makes headlines. In this series of images taken on his visit to the country, Kuczyński takes in the country’s rich history of Islam, Zoroastrianism and its diverse Islamic architecture of mosques, courtyards and mausoleums.

The 14th century Amir Chakhmaq Mosque in Yazd is said to be a relic of the Safavid period, and was constructed with help from then-governor Amir Jalaleddin Chakhmaq Shami and his wife. The copyright of all photos belongs to Tom Kuczyński. His work can be found at: www.tomkuczynski.blogspot.com
