In a meeting earlier this month with visiting Indian National Security Advisor Shiv Shankar Menon, Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao made soothing noises over the much-reported impending deal under which China plans to supply Pakistan with two nuclear reactors.
Menon had come with a brief to express his country’s reservations over the deal, and Wen’s assurances are unlikely to have done anything to have impressed anyone in India with much knowledge of the issue.
According to reports, Wen said, ‘We will work with India to maintain high-level visits and take care of each other’s interests and major concerns.’ The Indian government could construe this as meaning China will go slow on the deal to export the two reactors to Pakistan, a move that has unsettled not just India, but also the United States and other members of the Nuclear Suppliers’ Group.
But despite the implied understanding of India’s views on the issue, China has made no specific commitment to India about rethinking the deal, which ultimately forms part of its core relations with Pakistan. China needs Pakistan both to counter pro-US India and to keep Afghanistan/Pakistan and Uighur terrorism from spilling over into its territory.
Menon for his part passed a letter from Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to Wen praising China as a ‘great country’. Such flattery is unlikely to move the Chinese, or budge them from their position.

ManMohan Singh is living in fools paradise hoping China would make room for Indian concerns in their policies.Personally I don’t expect much from pass-outs of top institutions for they are too far away from reality. India’s tough luck is one such elite is ruling her. I’d much prefer a simpler man such as Nitish Kumar(Electrical Engineer and CM of the state of Bihar)

After getting a nuclear deal with the US, India is now the pot calling the Pakistan kettle black!!! India is such a failed state and a sham democracy!!!

If Pakistan is a proxy for China then similarly India is a proxy for U.S. If not, why the exception to NSG for India.Checkmate against checkmate. For the U.S. the hen has come home to roost with its short-sighted policy.Using Pakistan and using India at various stages in post war history for its own ends. One U.S.former ambassador in the past if my memory serves me well used to call India a “functioning anarchy.” Now it is Pakistan’s turn. “Up and down it goes where it stop no one knows”. Hope India wakes up to U.S and predecessor Britain constant geopolitical manipulation.
Fairly True
India was received and treated by China with respect and hospitality. With the India’s foreign policies blindly following those of Washington’s, I would love to see China temporarily ignore the noises made by this poor neighbor and confine it within its border.

The problem with India is that it’s leaders are very short sighted, incompetent, hegemonic and suffer from delusions of grandeur! The westerners know how fragile Indian egos are so will pay lavish compliments to inflate India’s superpower delusion of itself. India is caught in the grip of empire and empire will use India for its sway in Asia mercilessly and in disregard to its people. India needs to stop being a western lackey and stooge!!! All empires collapse however China will always be India’s neighbor. Is it wise to have hostile relations with a country as large and ancient as China???

First of all India is not hegemonic nor is it a stooge of some western country…..India is one of the most stubborn countries when it comes to dealing with the West…Its leaders are incompetent and short sighted that is true. Every Indian will agree to that…As per as the good relation with china brush up your history…it was china which annexed Tibet. Tibet was protectorate of India (inherited from British India) and India gave up all its rights unilaterally and then China attacked, its China not India which is hegemonic. Then China deceived and attacked India and sits on Indian territory even today. How can we have good relation between India and China??? Its the strongest supporter of Jihadi Islamic nation of Pakistan whose character especially its deeds against India are well known…

Indians like to kiss up to almost any one who is stronger and more powerful than them. At the same time, Indians look down upon those who are weaker and less fortunate than them.
This type of caste mentality and behavior are regarded as dog like behavior in China.
Most of the Chinese despise persons with such behavior and mentality.
Therefore, Chinese people know that Indian’s flattery can only be regarded as India’s acknowledgement of China’s superiority.
Nothing more.

Manmohan thinks China is like Sonia, they won’t be flattered that easily.
