China's rise inspires a mix of awe, fear and skepticism. But what will its global role be? Are we on the brink of a bipolar world? How will its neighbors respond? Will it all come crashing down? The Diplomat's daily China blog will try to find some answers.

Going to the local dvd shop is like going to the book store, you sorta need time to browse. I always like the mini cultural experience of going to the dvd shop and literally having 10 people from 10 different parts of the world smashed into a closet sized area for cheap dvds. Watching Chinese people try to negotiate for dvds or watch the straight faced laoban tell them that garfield is just the movie they are looking for (which it actually usually is). good experience.

perhaps there will be one clever dvd shop guy who figures out the netflix system...
