About the University

A relatively new university, established in 1989, the Queensland University of Technology has a modern outlook. It aims to conduct applied research best suited to the needs of industry and the regional community, and use this to enhance its high-quality curriculum. Reflecting this, graduate employment rates are consistently above the national average for Australian universities and QUT frequently ranks within the world’s top two-hundred institutions. And despite the name, many major disciplines are offered across seven faculties including Creative Industries, Law and Health. QUT is home to around 6,800 overseas students, originating in over ninety different countries.

About Brisbane

Brisbane, having been first inhabited by indigenous people and then settled by Europeans, is rich with history and culture. The city is bordered by the Brisbane River and Moreton Bay, and is part of the Great Dividing Range.

Brisbane, Queensland’s capital city, also offers a unique blend of the traditional and modern. The glass skyscrapers of the central business district tower over colonial buildings and downtown parkland, offering something for everyone. The city’s beautiful subtropical climate encourages an outdoor lifestyle and a love of sports, including rugby, Aussie rules football and cricket, which are enjoyed year-round. In addition, Brisbane has a growing live music scene and festivals are held regularly. The beaches of the world-famous Gold Coast lie to the south of the city, drawing residents and visitors alike.
